Webinar | The role of EfW in circular value chains

The European Union-Australian Climate Business Network invites you to join them at 4pm AEST on Thursday, 8 July 2021 for a complimentary industry webinar, hosted by WMRR, to delve into how and where energy from waste (EfW) fits into the circular economy puzzle, drawing on the EU’s long and proven experience.

 

Dr Ella Stengler, who has been the managing director of the Confederation of European Waste-to-Energy Plants (CEWEP) for 18 years and has years of experience dealing with European WARR policy and legislation, will join us via Zoom to share insights from Europe’s EfW journey. In considering EfW’s role in circular value chains, she will also discuss:

  • The European Green Deal and recycling policy framework including implications of circular economy initiatives.
  • EU Industry practice and responses, as well as future developments.
  • EU sustainable finance frameworks and implications for EfW finance and investments.


Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask Dr Stengler questions at the end of her presentation.

DR ELLA STENGLER
Managing Director
Confederation of European Waste-to-Energy Plants (CEWEP)


Ella Stengler is the Managing Director of CEWEP (the Confederation of European Waste-to-Energy Plants) since July 2003. CEWEP is the European Umbrella Association of the operators of Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Plants and has offices in Germany and Brussels. Before that she was the Managing Director of the German WtE association ITAD and previously she headed AGS, a public-private partnership organisation dealing with hazardous waste and waste shipments. She studied law in Germany and France.

Ella is dealing with European policy and legislation on waste, environment, energy, sustainability, pollution prevention, sustainable finance etc. Current priorities are the European Green Deal, particularly the Circular Economy and its Implementation, European Energy Policies including the Renewable Energy Directive, the EU’s Climate Law and long-term greenhouse gas reduction vision for 2050, and the Interface between waste and chemicals legislation.
