Minister for Environment


Ingrid Stitt was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council at the 2018 state election representing the Western Metropolitan Region. She is the Minister for Early Childhood and Pre-Prep and the Minister for Environment in the Andrews Labor Government.

As Minister for Early Childhood and Pre-Prep, she is passionate about education as the great leveler and is proud to continue the Government’s nation leading Best Start Best Life reforms.

As Minister for Environment, Ingrid is dedicated to safeguarding Victoria’s precious natural environment for future generations and continuing the Government’s efforts to grow our partnerships with Traditional Owners to support self-determination, support endangered species, champion the preservation of our biodiversity, implement a circular economy and establish a new recycling system.

Prior to entering Parliament, Ingrid devoted her working life to fighting for low paid workers across the private and community sectors. As Secretary of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Services Union between 2004 -2018, Ingrid advocated for secure and safe work for her members in some of Australia’s largest private sector companies.

Ingrid has raised her family and lived in the West for over 20 years.
