ANTHONY DIXON

Technical Director & Manager - Waste Management, GHD

Anthony is a landfill, composting and waste regulatory specialist and has over 25 years of experience managing waste projects. Anthony applies a pragmatic approach to advice he provides on waste management projects. He approaches projects from understanding the regulatory regime and providing direction on the technical components to assist with achieving suitable and cost effective compliance outcomes.

TIANA NAIRN

Policy Group Manager, LMS Energy

Tiana Nairn is LMS Energy’s Policy Group Manager and lectures at UniSA. Until she joined LMS last year, Tiana led EPA SA’s legal and policy reforms for improved waste management and resource recovery for many years. She has extensive experience in inter jurisdictional policy, law reform and environmental assessment. She is committed to increased wellbeing and prosperity through sound environmental policy.

PAUL LIGHTBODY

Principal, Mockinya Consulting

During 25 years as a Consultant to the Waste Management sector, Paul has fulfilled technical, board and executive leadership roles associated with delivery of landfill design, rehabilitation and waste management services.  Paul has overseen research into alternative landfill capping, use of recovered fines for landfill cover, landfill and contaminated site remediation, and the design & rehabilitation of landfill facilities in SA, Vic, NSW & Qld.

A registered professional engineer, Paul currently operates the specialist waste management consultancy Mockinya Consulting, providing advice to operators, regulators and auditors.

Paul is currently chair of WMRR's National Landfill Division, on the conference program committee and was convener of the 2017 WMRR Landfill conference in Sydney and WMRR Emerging Contaminants workshop in Brisbane 2019. 

SAM BATEMAN

Principal Consultant, Bateman Brothers Consultants

Sam Bateman is one of those dinosaurs that still think landfills have an important future in Australia.  He worked in the waste industry for 25 years and managed the Wollert Landfill when it won the Gold Excellence Award from the WMAA in 2009.  Sam was inaugural Chair of the Landfill Division in WMAA and initiated the National Landfill and Transfer Station Conferences while in that role.
