PETER WINDLEY

Coordinator Waste Operation, Shoalhaven City Council

Peter Windley has been the Waste Operations Coordinator since 2014 and has led and managed the recycling and waste operations team, consisting of 58 staff members successfully during that time. He also manages the daily operations at Council’s 10 recycling and waste facilities at West Nowra, Huskisson, Ulladulla, Berry, Callala, Sussex Inlet, Lake Conjola, Bendalong, Kioloa and Kangaroo Valley depots.

ALEX UPITIS

Waste Lead NSW & VIC, Talis Consultants

Alex Upitis is a Senior Waste Management Consultant and the Waste Lead for NSW and VIC with Talis Consultants. He joined Talis at its inception and in this time, has assisted in expanding Talis’ services into the East Coast. Alex has led and been involved in a comprehensive range of projects relating to waste management strategies and infrastructure.

KARL BALTPURVINS

General Manager - Liquid and Technical Services, Cleanaway

Dr Karl Baltpurvins acts as the General Manager of Cleanaway’s Liquid and Technical Services division. This business operates 35 resource recovery and treatment facilities located throughout Australia employing over 600 staff. Karl holds a PhD in environmental chemistry from the University of Newcastle and has over 20 years of experience in the environmental services sector in Australia and abroad.  Karl is a chartered chemist with the Royal Australian Chemistry Institute and has presented at numerous conferences and published an array of papers in the fields of waste management, contaminated site remediation, wastewater treatment, innovation and environmental chemistry. 

DAVID GAMBLE

Technical Director - Waste Infrastructure, GHD

David is a Technical Director for GHD, specialising in waste infrastructure projects. Over his more than 20 years with GHD, he has worked on a number of significant projects involving AWT, organics composting, fuel production, energy from waste , transfer station and resource recovery centre design and approvals.

JARVIS WEBB

Senior Consultant, Rawtec

Jarvis joined Rawtec in 2014. With qualifications in business, environmental management, and sustainability, he brings to the team an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how different sustainability approaches and practices can be used to improve the waste and resource management efficiency of businesses, organisations, and council services. He has worked on many landfill and transfer station related projects, including strategic review and option assessment of facilities, and notably the development of the updated Sustainability Victoria Guide to Better Practice at Resource Recovery Centres (2016) and accompanying workbook, fact sheets and case studies.
