2026 ENVIRO Conference

The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) invites you to join us in Adelaide on 23-24 of June for our national circular economy conference, the 2026 ENVIRO Conference (#2026ENVIRO). The theme of this year's conference is 'Going Circular'.

GOING CIRCULAR

With only 4.6% of materials across the country currently being circular, and an ambitious goal to double this by 2035, it is vital that all areas of industry, the community and government come together and play their part in transitioning Australia to a truly circular economy.  We must be proactive at a local, state, and national level to ensure that the life and value of materials are maximised and carbon is minimised.  It is time to challenge the status quo - to make real progress, we must deliver a fundamental shift across society to reduce the demand for raw materials, think differently about design, and encourage reuse and repair through responsible production and consumption.

Under the theme 'Going Circular' the 2026 ENVIRO Conference (#2026ENVIRO) will spotlight the successes, realise the opportunities, and discuss the systems thinking and action required to genuinely pivot the supply chain away from linear thinking to circular action.

Highlights include:

  • A range of local and international keynotes, including former Chief Executive of Zero Waste Scotland, Iain Gulland, pioneer and facilitator of the Circular Economy (Scotland) Act 2024, the primary legislation driving Scotland's transition to a circular economy.
  • Six (6) concurrent sessions including international case studies, CE insights, and examples of CE in practice with dedicated sessions on design; repair, share + reuse, recycling, and regeneration.
  • Opportunities for networking at one of two (2) social functions - pre-conference networking drinks, and the official conference dinner at The Drive, a new, state-of-the-art venue situated in the vibrant heart of the Riverbank precinct.
  • A range of industry sponsors and exhibitors supporting and showcasing local innovation in the circular, waste and resource recovery industries.

2026 ENVIRO AWARDS

The ENVIRO Awards have been designed to acknowledge and celebrate those in the field that are leading the charge in bringing a circular economy to life in Australia. They aim to identify and reward people, organisations and projects that exemplar the three (3) circular economy principles of designing out and eliminating waste and pollution; circulating products and materials at their highest value for longer; and regenerating nature. Quite simply, they shine a spotlight on those that are genuinely using less, maximising resources, mitigating carbon and making lasting change for the community, business and the planet!  The three (3) awards are:
