Kicking off the November #takebacktuesdays program (on a Wednesday due to Melbourne Cup) is a presentation by Emmanuel Katrakis, Secretary General of the European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC). Emmanuel will discuss ‘End of waste streams - raw materials from recycling and circularity’, delving into the EU’s new Circular Economy Action Plan and how EU policies are playing out in practice, what is needed to harmonise end of waste criteria, as well as learnings for the Australian WARR sector.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation.

		EMMANUEL KATRAKIS Secretary General European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) Mr. Emmanuel KATRAKIS serves as Secretary General of the European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) since September 2014. Emmanuel is responsible for the continuous development of the Confederation which, through its Member Federations, represents more than 5,500 companies across Europe from a number of resource streams (household, commercial & industrial waste, WEEE, ELVs, tyres, and textiles).  Raising awareness about the instrumental role played by recycling in sustainable development and fostering recycling friendly policy measures are among his priorities. Emmanuel is a regular speaker in international conferences dealing with recycling and a member of different expert groups set up by European institutions aiming at supporting the transition towards a more circular economy. Emmanuel graduated in European law from the College of Europe and the University of Paris II Pantheon-Assas.
