NSW Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast

The Waste Management & Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) invites you to join us at Parliament House on Thursday, 31 August 2023 for our our annual NSW Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast. This event is designed to celebrate women in our industry who are driving change, and in doing so, breaking down barriers and creating new career prospects for the next generation.

ANNA MINNS
CEO and Co-Founder, Boomerang Labs

Anna is the CEO & co-founder of Australia's first circular economy accelerator Boomerang Labs, and is also a circular economy advisor to Circular Australia. 

She established and was General Manager of Terracycle in Australia and New Zealand, a company that saw the circular opportunity and has thrived since its Australian launch in 2014. 

Anna has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales, and a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law from the University of Sydney. 

Anna previously worked as a criminal prosecutor, but much prefers working in waste!. 

 

 

BARBARA GILL
General Manager & Director, Garage Sale Trail

Barbara is the General Manager & Director of Garage Sale Trail Foundation, a not for profit social enterprise on a mission to get Australians avoiding waste and embracing the circular economy, all through the humble act of a garage sale. 

Barbara leads the team delivering one of Australia's leading waste education and behaviour change programs that every year reaches a cumulative audience of over 21 million Australians, diverts over 3 million kilograms from landfill and provides a $4 million boost to local economies.

Over her sixteen year career, Barbara has worked in the public, private and charitable sector in both Australia and in the UK, including a stint establishing one of the London 2012 Olympic Games legacy programs which is now credited with generating over £11 billion in trade and investment.

Barbara has a Masters degree in Social Anthropology and cut her pre-loved teeth at the age of 10 on the floor of a UK op shop, thanks to her charity shop manager mum Janet.

     

 

MICHELLE MANDL
General Manager – Communications, Customer & Engagement
TOMRA Cleanaway

Michelle is an experienced waste, resource recovery, and sustainability executive with 20+ years of expertise across municipal and state government and commercial services industries where she has been responsible for engagement programs that deliver behaviour change at scale. Commencing early in her career as a teacher and environmental educator, Michelle’s environmental passions led her to an Australian Government and European Union joint scholarship in Denmark and Wales to study a Master of Environmental Management, majoring in organic agriculture, sustainability and resource management. Hooked on ‘waste’ when auditing school rubbish bins with Penrith City Council in the early 2000’s, Michelle has been passionate about resource management and Australia’s journey towards more sustainable practices since.  

Today Michelle is known for creating an empowered team within a lean organisation and has demonstrated executive-level representation throughout her tenure. Michelle’s national-level responsibilities ensure TOMRA Cleanaway is recognized as a premier network operator of container deposit scheme services.
