VIC Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast

The Waste Management & Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) invites you to our annual Victorian Women of WARR Leadership Breakfast at the State Library on Thursday, 7 September 2023. This much-loved event is designed to celebrate women in our industry who are driving change, and in doing so, breaking down barriers and creating new career prospects for the next generation.

PREET BRAR
General Manager, Solid Waste Services VIC
Cleanaway

With over 20 years’ experience in environmental services Preet has a passion for building a sustainable future and accelerating the transition to a more environmentally conscious society.

In her current role as General Manager of Solid Waste Services VIC at Cleanaway, Preet leads the Victorian operations. She is accountable for strategically directing and managing all operations across various sectors, including landfills, transfer stations, waste collection, recycling plants, and composting facilities. 

Prior to joining Cleanaway, Preet held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Veolia India. During her tenure, Preet played a pivotal role in driving business growth, establishing strong governance, and implementing effective controls. Her strategic expertise and leadership led to significant accomplishments, including robust capability building, successful integration of recent acquisitions, and a turnaround of the hazardous waste business. 

Before her tenure at Veolia India, Preet held the role of Chief Financial Officer at Veolia Australia & New Zealand. Her financial acumen and business insights were instrumental in steering the organization towards success. 

 

 

SZE-FEI PENG
Principal Environmental Engineer
Tonkin + Taylor

Sze-Fei is the Sector Lead for Waste & Resource Recovery at Tonkin + Taylor (T+T), and has been an engineering consultant for over 22 years.

Sze-Fei's career started in New Zealand in Air Quality, and her involvement in landfill projects sparked an interest in the sector early in her career. A shift in 2010 lead her to Melbourne which solidified her interest in all facets of waste management. Starting in a new country, building a new brand and business in the sector has been an exciting and challenging journey.

Sze-Fei's portfolio includes over 70 waste management facilities across Australia and New Zealand providing technical solutions and leading teams. She is a career mentor to a number of staff within T+T and externally and is passionate about supporting others as they navigate the complexities of the waste and resource recovery sector. 

     

  SUZY NEILAN

Executive Director Strategy
EPA Victoria

Suzy is Executive Director of the Strategy Division and joined EPA in August 2021.

Suzy was previously Executive Director, Service Delivery with the Victorian Building Authority where she oversaw Licensing & Registration, Customer Service and Quality.  During her time at VBA she led the operationalisation of new legislation including the Plumbing Regulations 2018 and Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019 and worked with DELWP on various amendments to the Building Act 2018 such as Trades Registration (deferred until 2022) and the Building Amendment (Cladding Rectification) Act 2019. 

Before joining the Victorian Public Sector in 2018 Suzy worked largely in Business Process Outsourcing, most notably as General Manager of Infringement Management Enforcement Services at Tenix Solutions which managed the outsourced systems and services of Civic Compliance Victoria for Department Justice & Regulation.
