NICK SIMMONS

Principal Technical Specialist - Landfills, Australian Environmental Auditors

Nick is a Principal Technical Specialist at Australian Environmental Auditors and formerly EPA Victoria’s Principal Expert – Landfills.  He has 17 years’ experience regulating landfills in the UK Environment Agency and EPA Victoria and regularly appears across Australia as an expert witness and conference presenter on landfill gas risk assessment, landfill gas management, landfill geochemistry and landfill hydrogeological assessment.

Nick has authored or contributed to all of EPA Victoria’s landfill guidance documents and continues to undertake inspections and detailed environmental assessments of landfills throughout Australia as an auditors expert assistant. Nick lectures at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology university in landfill management, environmental assessment of landfills and integrated waste management.

STUART DEVER

Principal Engineer, Kimbriki Environmental Enterprises

Stuart Dever is Principal Engineer at the Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre, which is located at Terrey Hills in northern Sydney, Australia.  He is also a visiting lecturer (waste management) at the University of New South Wales.  Stuart has 30 years’ experience working in the waste management industry, and has particular expertise in landfill design, construction and operation, including leachate and landfill gas management.

JOHN GRAY

Managing Director / Principal Process Engineer, JPG Engineering

John is a Chemical Engineer, having graduated from Sydney University.  In 1995 John established the Wollongong based Process Engineering Company - JPG Engineering. JPG Engineering has designed and constructed many of Sydney's largest Landfill Leachate Treatment Facilities and currently operates and maintains Leachate Treatment Facilities at nine (9) of Sydney's Metropolitan and Regional Centre's major operating and closed Landfill Sites.

DAVID BURNS

Technical BDM & SAFF Co-inventor, OPEC Systems

David Burns has worked within the contaminated sites industry for 30 years as a senior analytical chemist, owner of a laboratory, data quality and chemistry support of accredited site auditors and most recently lead technical business development manager and co-inventor of OPEC Systems Surface Active Foam Fractionation (SAFF) treatment system to remove PFAS from contaminated waters.
