Amelia has over 15 years of experience in environmental management, as an environmental consultant and environmental advisor in industry. Her key skill sets include environmental monitoring and compliance, environmental auditing, environmental management systems and environmental approvals. Amelia is passionate about driving innovative solutions with positive environmental outcomes. She is skilled at defining the core nature of issues, identifying and analysing root causes and developing effective improvement strategies. Throughout her career, Amelia has worked on many complex and unique environmental approvals at the local, State and Commonwealth level.

Paul Lightbody

Principal, Mockinya Consulting

Paul is a Consulting Engineer with over 30 years professional experience in landfill engineering, engineering use of recovered products, landfill gas behaviour and sustainable landfill closure.  As an both a designer and technical advisor, Paul has worked with operators, auditors and regulators and experienced in a diverse range of project requirements, risks, designs solutions and stakeholder expectations.  Paul formed Mockinya Consulting in 2015 after leading the Waste and Environment group of a national consulting practice for 20 years and is currently Chair of the WMRR Landfill Division.

Alex Upitis

Waste Team Lead - NSW, ACT & VIC, Talis Consultants

Alex is a Senior Consultant and the Waste Lead for NSW, ACT and Victoria. Alex has been with Talis for over 10 years and in the last 5 years has led the development of Talis’ two east coast offices while growing a strong multidisciplinary team of professionals. Alex has worked on behalf of councils, regional groups and State agencies providing disaster waste advice.  

Nigel Ruxton

Senior Principal, Senversa

Nigel is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland. He has over 20 years' experience in waste management, civil and environmental engineering, where he has led multidisciplinary design teams on a variety of engineering projects, including landfill development and restoration, contaminated site remediation, engineered dam design and recycling/waste transfer facilities. He has specific experience in the conversion of brownfield sites into landfill and assisting client design resilient infrastructure to combat the effects of climate change. Nigel was the recipient of the Australian Geomechanics Society Don Douglas Youth Fellowship Award in 2016, and a Golder Global Excellence Award for Client Service and Technical Excellence in 2014.     

Alice Noviani

Associate Engineer, WSP

Alice is an Associate Engineer with over 6 years of experience in urban, mining and waste management projects. She has undertaken surface water assessments and developed several hydrology and hydraulic models. Alice has fulfilled the role of design lead on a variety of civil design projects, including conceptual, detailed design and construction stages. Alice is currently involved in a variety of waste management projects in South East Queensland.
