Maja is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the CSIRO Agriculture & Food Sustainability Program. She is a Science & Technology Australia STEM Ambassador, working across the science-policy interface to enable circular bioeconomy transition pathways for agri-food systems. Her current projects include an advisory role on the FAO’s livestock circular bioeconomy technical guidelines and assessing bio-based materials for their circular fertiliser potentials.

Colleen MacMillan

Co-Deputy - CSIRO Circular Economy for Missions Initiative, CSIRO

Colleen is a science and transitions leader at Australia’s national science agency CSIRO. As Co-Deputy of the CSIRO Circular Economy for Missions Initiative, she has a focus on agriculture and food, and fibre-based industries. Her multi-decade science career is in plant molecular biology researching agricultural crop secondary cell walls and their uses for biodegradable renewable plant-based industries and commodities.

Sophie Kenway

OSI Engineer, TasWater

Sophie is a process engineer in TasWater’s Operational Support and Improvement team and with a background in Chemical and Environmental Engineering. She has over two years’ experience in waste and has worked in consulting as well as at two water utilities. Currently she is delivering technical innovation projects at TasWater including constructed floating wetlands and process intensification of several sites.

Phil Garozzo

Co-Founder, Loop Growers


Phil is a full time Regenerative Farmer in the Samford Valley and co-founder of Loop Growers, a project that partners with Brisbane—based hospitality venues to collect food and coffee scraps (yields), create compost and from that, grow food for those venues.

Phil and co-founder Alice Star have both dedicated the last decade to growing this community of venues as well as shedding light on the issue of food waste and the potential this material has to create a circular change in our food system.
