Engineer - Environment and Resources Group, Arup

Margie is a Waste Management Consultant with a civil and environmental engineering background. Since joining the Arup Resource and Waste Management team in 2017, she has worked to accelerate the shift towards a more diverse and sustainable mix of resource recovery infrastructure across Australia, including both organics and energy recovery. Margie’s experience in Energy from Waste includes supporting the Queensland Government to develop their Energy from Waste policy and guideline, and authorship of the waste technical chapter and waste policy chapter for the Western Sydney Energy and Resource Recovery Centre proposal in NSW.

Esther Hughes

Principal Environmental Consultant - Planning and Approvals, MRA Consulting Group

Esther is the Principal Planning Consultant at MRA Consulting, heading up a team that delivers waste and resource recovery development applications and licensing approvals. She has more than 10 years’ experience in environmental assessment, with 5 specialising in the waste industry.  She is inspired by the integrated frameworks of economy, policy, and regulation, and by meeting with people who are trying to work within this somewhat complicated system.. 

Jennifer Hughes

Principal, Beatty Hughes & Associates

Jennifer is a Principal at Beatty Hughes & Associates, a leading boutique environment and planning law firm in Sydney.  Jennifer has a particular interest in the waste industry, where she advises on compliance, environmental incident management, the planning process for the development of new facilities, waste contracts, container deposit schemes and extended producer responsibility.

Tiana Nairn

Policy Group Manager, LMS Energy

Tiana is LMS Energy’s Policy Group Manager and lectures at UniSA. Until she joined LMS last year, Tiana led EPA SA’s legal and policy reforms for improved waste management and resource recovery for many years. She has extensive experience in inter jurisdictional policy, law reform and environmental assessment. She is committed to increased wellbeing and prosperity through sound environmental policy.
