Cara is a policy and legislation Manager within the Office of Circular Economy, in Queensland Government. Cara has worked within government for more than 20 years in various roles, from leading national environmental pest and disease eradication programs to her current role developing and implementing state environmental strategies and legislation. 

Cara and her team work across addressing Waste Management reforms, circular economy initiatives and plastic pollution reduction, including implementing bans on specific single-use plastic items, innovation challenges, trials and lifecycle assessment projects to inform future policy development. 

Cara’s team developed the Queensland Organics Strategy 2022 – 2032 and its supporting Action Plan and continue delivering many of the actions for the implementation of the Organics Strategy. Cara is the chair of the Queensland Food Organic Garden Organic (FOGO) working group, bringing state and local governments together with industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities to progress improving the management of organic material in Queensland. y.
