NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN: WMRR 2026-2028 State
Branch Committee Presidents and Vice Presidents
Following
the recent Board elections and 2026 AGM, WMRR is now calling for nominations
for the positions of State Branch Committee President and Vice President, which
will take office from September 2026.
State
Branch Committee Presidents and Vice Presidents can serve for up to two (2)
consecutive two (2) year terms, totalling four (4) years. This means that
existing Presidents and Vice Presidents who came into office for the first time
in 2024 are eligible to renominate. All current WMRR financial members (except
student members) are eligible to nominate for the position of President and/ or
Vice President of their State Branch Committee.
A number of current WMRR Presidents and Vice Presidents will reach the end of
their four (4) year terms in 2026 and will not be eligible to renominate. WMRR
sincerely thanks the outgoing Presidents and Vice Presidents for their
dedication, leadership and valuable contribution to both the Association and
Australia's waste and resource recovery sector.
About WMRR’s State Branch
Committees
The State Branch Committee is the representative body for the sector’s diverse
operations within that state. It provides a forum for networking, problem
solving and knowledge-sharing, with regular monthly meetings. The Framework for WMRR Branch Committees details the roles of the President,
Vice President, and committee.
All financial WMRR members are welcome to join their State Branch
Committees – please email [email protected] if you would like to join your State Branch Committee.

Role of the
State Branch Committee President and Vice President
The State Branch Committee President leads and chairs the Committee, acting in
the best interests of WMRR and the waste and resource recovery sector ahead of
personal, organisational or individual interests when conducting this role. The
Vice President supports the President and assumes their responsibilities when
required.
In addition to chairing State Branch Committee meetings, Presidents are
required to attend the monthly National Hook-Up, held on the first Friday of
each month. These meetings bring together WMRR Board Directors, the National
President and Vice President, Division Chairs, State Branch Presidents and
National Office to discuss state and national issues, share information and
inform WMRR's advocacy and strategic priorities.
Successful nominees will commence their two (2) year terms at the September
2026 State Branch Committee meeting.
Please note that elected State Branch Presidents will be expected to attend a
one (1) day Strategy Workshop in Sydney on Wednesday 30 September 2026 to
provide input into the development of WMRR’s
Strategic Business Plan 2027-2030. Travel costs will be covered by
WMRR.
How to nominate
Nominees for either position must provide a CV and complete the nomination form
which can be downloaded here:

Vice President
Please send your completed nomination form and CV to [email protected] by 5 pm AEST Tuesday 28 July 2026. No late nominations will be accepted.
In the event that more than one (1) eligible nomination is received for either
position, an election will take place where WMRR members will be called on to
cast their vote for a candidate. Members will be provided with the nomination
application for each nominated candidate including their CV.
Where a nomination is
unsuccessful, the applicant will default to a member of the Branch Committee.
