WMRR Confirms 2026-2028 Board with a New National Vice President
15 May 2026
The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR) is
delighted to announce its Board of Directors for 2026-28 inclusive of a new
National Vice President.
Following
a call for nominations in March 2026, Mr Jason Pugh, Managing Director & Country
President for Kanadevia Inova and WMRR’s current WA Branch President, will be
joining the WMRR Board as National Vice President, whilst Ms Michelle Mandl
and Ms Katherine Dodd will each serve their second consecutive term with the
WMRR Board as Nominated Director and Elected Director respectively.
Ms
Katherine Dodd, General Manager of MRA Consulting Group, successfully
campaigned to be re-elected to the Board by the WMRR membership – evidence of
the valuable contribution she has made to WMRR as a Board member over the
last two (2) years, and her extensive involvement with the NSW Branch and
Young Professionals in the years prior. Similarly, Ms Michelle Mandl, General
Manager Communications, Customer and Engagement at TOMRA Cleanaway, was
re-appointed to the Board by the WMRR Nominations Committee in recognition of
the significant communications and marketing expertise she brings to the WMRR
Board.
WMRR
CEO, Ms Gayle Sloan, noted that Mr Pugh – who has served as WMRR’s WA Branch
President since 2022 – has been a strong and informed WA representative who
has led the WA Branch brilliantly to address policy, infrastructure and levy
changes in WA, whilst also being instrumental in the development of some of
Australia’s first Energy-from-Waste facilities.
“Jason
brings deep expertise in the Energy-from-Waste sector, together with strong
governance and commercial leadership experience, to the WMRR Board. His
financial acumen will be a significant asset in his role as incoming Chair of
WMRR’s Audit and Risk Committee, while his understanding of the complexities
involved in delivering major waste and resource recovery infrastructure
projects will further strengthen the Board’s strategic capability,” she said.
Ms
Sloan also noted the valuable and longstanding contribution made to WMRR by
the outgoing Vice President, Ms Isabel Axiö, who until recently, was based in
Tasmania as a Senior Consultant with RMCG.
“WMRR
values the knowledgeable contribution made by Isabel as a WMRR Director and
then Vice President over the last four (4) years. She continually sought to
improve upon WMRR’s value offering and ensure that the association thrived.
We thank her for her significant contribution to the sector and wish her
every success as she transitions to her new base in Sweden.”
As
a CEO led association, WMRR’s Board is focused on the association’s
governance, and includes members with a deep mix of industry knowledge,
governance experience, financial, risk and legal expertise, and
communications and stakeholder engagement.
The
2026-2028 Board of Directors will commence their terms at the forthcoming
WMRR Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday 22 June 2026. This year, the AGM
will be hosted ahead of the ENVIRO Conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre. WMRR members are encouraged
to register to attend the AGM at the WMRR
website.
